SETI Dimensions for

What
is Socially Intelligent
Leadership About?
|
-
-
Socially
Intelligent Leadership is
a special cluster of emotional competencies that determines how well you
connect, empathise, relate and get along in your team. It’s about
staying on the positive side of teams and helping them develop what we
call S E T I –
no, not the
Search for Extra-Terrestrial
Intelligence – Social and Emotional Team Intelligence
– every team could do with more of it.
-
This clinic shows leaders how
to work
with 10 SETI Dimensions to connect better and
build more emotionally intelligent teams;
to
help them build resonance, respect, resilience, connectivity and
cohesion – qualities that contribute dramatically to superior team
performance.
-
Though we all
probably know a few aliens in our team or wonder what planet some people
come from, SETI is not science fiction, it’s
science-fact. Everything that happens in a team can be traced back to SETI. The inner-space, not the outer-space, is the new frontier for
high-performing teams. No matter what kind of team, or what type of work
it does, every team on planet earth relies for its effectiveness and
productivity, on emotional interactions. SETI is the new science of
getting along well with others – and research reveals that this ability
may account for as much as 40% of team performance...
-
Vulcans and cyborgs aside, it’s
impossible for a group of earthlings to interact without emotions. We’re
brain-wired to. Some interactions and emotions are constructive – they
contribute to team cohesion and collaboration. Others are destructive.
They threaten teams with disintegration. We all need SETI because teams
by their very nature, are social entities first, work vehicles second.
That’s the order it happens in. Teams need to be able to handle the
whole inner-space continuum of both beneficial and disruptive emotions
that manifest amongst its members.
-
Individuals need emotional intelligence
to manage their own emotions and navigate relationships - and the team
as an entire entity needs social intelligence to handle the inevitable
conflicts that arise, persevere in the face of setbacks, tackle tough
challenges, connect, get along well with team-mates, read what’s going
on for each other and harness the energy to take concerted action.
-
That’s where our clinic on

Teams comes in. Why not

What does
the Socially Intelligent Leadership clinic cover?
|
-
While we naturally work in teams to
achieve things we can’t do alone, working well together in them doesn’t
come so naturally. We have to learn how to do this. This
2-day work-out
for team leaders and members takes you through a series of activities
based on
10 Dimensions for EI Teams that
help you in a hands-on way to:
 |
Boost your level of social intelligence
and emotional awareness |
 |
Build positive emotional states like
resilience, tolerance and respect |
 |
Measure the emotional temperature of
your team |
 |
Create more cohesion and connectivity
in your team |
 |
Apply 5 keys of team behaviour –
likingness, safety, empathy, support, feedback |
 |
Temper the impact of toxic emotions on
team climate |
 |
Reinforce relationship builders like resonance and
rapport |
This clinic includes a comprehensive self-coaching
Toolkit to help you and your team start putting tools into practice
back-at-work. You can get some background to our ideas on EI in

Who's this Clinic for?
|
-
Participants at our EI clinics come from
the ranks of leaders, professionals and workers of all sorts. We have
specialist EI clinics for leaders and staff but this clinic is for
anyone – leader or team members – who want to do something about
improving the emotional climate of the team they work in. We often find
that teams get better results when a number of people from the same unit
decide to come along together to do this work-out and plan changes.

In-House Clinics are
also an option...
|
-
All Change Forum scheduled programs can be delivered
in-house
in standard format or tailored to suit particular team or
organisation learning priorities or integrated as part of a more
comprehensive workplace improvement project.
-
We also work directly with teams in
their own organisation to assist with overcoming challenges holding the
team back Starting out with an in-depth SETI Survey or a
Team Culture and Functionality Survey we review where the team is
currently at and then decide together on key team improvement priorities
for the team to put into practice.
