“Teaching with EI was a great reminder - I’m inspired. It was
time well spent because our student population needs a lot of help to stop
and think about feelings and responses to certain situations. It’s not
easy and teachers need direction and support to assist students develop
their EI. The activities were very worthwhile.”
Louise Evans - Balaclava State School

What’s Teaching with Emotional Intelligence about?
Nowhere is EI more critical than in classrooms.
Whether you plan it or not, all teachers are emotional coaches
– dealing with emotions day-in and day-out. Research reveals a teacher’s
level of EI is by far the single most important variable in creating
emotionally safe, supportive and constructive classroom climates.
EI isn’t a cure-all for all classroom challenges,
but it certainly helps cultivate happier, healthier, higher-functioning
and less-stressed classrooms, students and teachers. Students learn best
and teachers teach best when they feel good about being in class, feel
motivated and feel they get along well with others. Like leaders
everywhere, teachers knowingly or unknowingly, imprint emotional patterns
and model crucial lessons in emotional self-management.
[See
Why EI is every Teacher’s business].
“I enjoyed Teaching with EI. Very practical, thought provoking
and something we can all use, not just the kids! I see how to practically
apply the tools and the guide is a detailed and excellent resource full of
useful tools I’ve already implemented. Thanks Bill.”
Mandy Canfield – Cairns School of Distance Education

“Go and do Teaching with EI. I came away feeling enthused. Bill
was very welcoming and thoughtful and the tool-kit is an excellent
resource.. We all need this stuff. Even though we already know a lot of
it, it’s good to have it ordered, clarified and authenticated on a
scientific basis.”
Susan Mitchell - Cairns West State School
