“Very
beneficial to attend for a general overview of how people feel when
there’s change and ideas to assist with helping them to change. Course
structure, content and methods used were all great – as is the
self-directed guidebook. I’d love to have the skills Bill has when
presenting to a group. He’s very good at what he does.”

Preparing People for Change
–
What’s this about?
Asked what they’d do differently if they had their change-time over again,
many leaders say: “prepare people better for it”. It’s the first
step in any well-run change process but it’s often overlooked. Sure, it’s
too late now for the last change. But what about doing it differently next
time?
One reason change efforts fail
is we don’t consider change from a recipient's perspective and address
their concerns.
Preparing People for Change
looks at the personal side of change and what leaders can do to handle the
emotional dynamics behind change and better prepare people as a prelude to
leading them through it.
Systems and structures don’t change unless people do. How people
personally respond to change is critical in determining how much, how
fast, how well or even whether they’ll change at all. In this action-based
clinic
you’ll learn
how to:
·
Assess
levels of change-fatigue & ways to build resilience
·
Master
our ‘PAVERS’ model to plan change preparation steps
·
Factor-in
the emotional side of change in people’s reactions
·
Monitor
change fatigue levels and help people build resilience
·
Help
people mindfully manage how they respond to change
·
Encourage
people to respond to change constructively
·
Dissect
reasons for resistance and tune in to people’s thinking
·
Convert
anxiety & reluctance into constructive change energy
·
Challenge
people’s facts, fears and fantasies about change
·
Get engagement
and Increase change-ability in your team
·
Be prepared
with a people-centred plan for your next change
·
Better prepare
people & create more positive change cultures
"I’d recommend this clinic to others. It was very useful to learn new
strategies to support staff with constant change we face. It became
obvious to me that if it’s managed well, people can cope okay. I feel
better prepared to ask the tricky questions we all want to know and
encourage transparent communication about change."
Hayley Farry, Toowoomba Hospital & Health Service

Is this
right for you?
This clinic
is for leaders who want to do a better job of preparing people for change.
It doesn’t deal with implementing change or actions to take to lead people
through it once it’s underway. It also only touches on handling change
resistance. These topics are explored in full in 3 other Change Forum
Clinics:
Leading Change Management,
Leading Teams through Change and
Challenging Change Resistance.
