“I used to sit in passive silence and  retreat from conversations. This program was great – it gave me some simple tools and a much-needed lift to learn how to talk up more in meetings and conversations.” Richard M, Regional Council

We all need to be heard – to have our ideas, views and feelings listened to. Yet not all of us plunge fearlessly into conversations. Shyness, self-doubt or sheer panic – speaking-up can be a pretty scary, anxiety-provoking proposition for many of us...

Tongue-Fear? Ever suffered from ‘glossophobia’ It’s Greek for “tongue-fear”: fear of speaking-up or what’s known as conversational anxiety.

There are real intense anxiety symptoms too that include palm-sweating, mind-blanking, tongue-twisting, lip-zipping, panic attacks and freezing in front of people. Who hasn’t had times like this?

Glossophobia is more common than we think: as many as maybe 75% of us suffer tongue-fear, or its more general formsocial anxiety.

Apart from build conversational confidence and combat anxiety, many people also want to be more influential, persuasive, positively assertive in their conversational dealings with others.

Whatever your role, position or job-level, Building Conversational Confidence shows you ways to combat anxiety, engage positively in meetings, speak with influence and say what you have to say in ways that will be heard.

Practise in a safe environment – try out tools with no role plays or other embarrassments...
